We offer a wide variety of tours and accomodations for outdoor enthusiasts, depending on the season, the weather, your interests, and time. Driving and WalkingTours: Our tours run each afternoon and are $25 for adults, $20 for students and free for kids 5 and under. All trips include rides through scenic areas of Beaver Island. Guided tours may include stops at sandy beaches, bogs and inland lakes, marshes, cedar swamps, and hardwood forests. We discuss the various communities visited and identify plants and animals both native and non-native to the area. White-tailed deer are plentiful on the island and can be seen on most trips. Loons and osprey have been seen diving into the inland lakes. Chipmunks, snakes, frogs, turtles, and salamanders can be seen at the marsh, in addition to beaver dams, water lilies, and clubmosses. Cedar swamps are dominated by cedar trees and lots of skunk cabbage. Ferns, jewelweed, and liverworts can be seen on many walks through the swamp. Beech-maple forests are very common here on Beaver Island and can be seen as we drive from one stop to the next. Inland Lake Tours: We offer inland lake tours for groups of 3 or less. We will travel by boat around an inland lake and observe the plants and animals from the water. This offers a new perspective of the wetlands and woods around a lake. Biking Tours: Bike tours leave from St. James each afternoon and will travel over gravel roads and woodland trails. We will visit Barneys Lake and Protar'ss tomb. We will bike through forests and across stabalized sand dunes. Hiking and Camping Trips: In addition to our tours, we can transport you to many remote places on Beaver Island. We'll pick you and your gear up anywhere on Beaver Island and transport you to any camping or hiking location. Also, let us know if you are interested in visiting the outer islands.
